6. Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal information.

Contract

We use information where necessary to create customer accounts, provide subscribed services, administer billing and otherwise perform our contract with customers.

Legitimate interests

We rely on legitimate interests for certain business intelligence and professional-contact processing. These interests include:

  • providing customers with relevant B2B opportunity intelligence;
  • identifying appropriate professional contacts connected with a genuine business opportunity;
  • organising and analysing publicly available business information;
  • protecting and improving the SignalIntel service; and
  • preventing misuse, fraud and security threats.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether the processing is necessary and balance those interests against the rights and reasonable expectations of the individuals concerned.

Legal obligation

We may process information where this is necessary to comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other applicable obligations.

7. Professional contact data and B2B intelligence

SignalIntel is designed for business-to-business use. However, information about an identifiable employee, director, sole trader or other professional can still be personal information even when it relates to their professional role.

We therefore aim to limit professional contact information to data reasonably relevant to a person's business role and to the B2B opportunity being identified.

SignalIntel is not intended to collect sensitive personal information about individuals for opportunity generation, such as health information, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other special-category information.

8. Automated analysis and scoring

SignalIntel uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to analyse business information, classify signals, estimate relevance and prioritise potential opportunities.

These scores and classifications are intended to assist B2B prospecting and research. They do not determine an individual's legal rights, employment, creditworthiness or access to essential services, and they should not be treated as guaranteed statements of fact.

9. Who we share information with

We may disclose or make information available to service providers where reasonably necessary to operate SignalIntel. These may include:

  • cloud hosting and database providers;
  • authentication and infrastructure providers;
  • artificial intelligence service providers;
  • payment processors;
  • email delivery providers;
  • business data and enrichment providers;
  • professional advisers or authorities where required by law; and
  • SignalIntel customers where professional contact information is relevant to an opportunity delivered through the service.

Service providers currently used in operating SignalIntel include Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, Resend and business data providers such as Hunter.

We do not provide payment card numbers to SignalIntel customers. Payments are processed by Stripe.

10. International transfers

Some of the service providers used by SignalIntel may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps intended to ensure that an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism or safeguard is used where required by UK data protection law. Depending on the provider and destination, this may include UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards.

11. How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing the service, maintaining accurate business intelligence, protecting the platform, resolving disputes and meeting legal or accounting obligations.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of information. We may periodically refresh, replace or delete business intelligence when it becomes outdated, inaccurate or no longer necessary.

Account and transaction information may be retained for longer where necessary to meet tax, accounting, fraud-prevention or legal requirements.

12. Security

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, disclosure or misuse.

No internet or cloud-based service can guarantee absolute security. We therefore continually review the controls used to protect the service and the information it processes.

13. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis involved, UK data protection law may give you rights including:

  • the right to access personal information we hold about you;
  • the right to correct inaccurate information;
  • the right to request deletion of personal information in certain circumstances;
  • the right to request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
  • the right to data portability where that right applies; and
  • rights relating to certain automated processing where applicable.

Your right to object

Where SignalIntel processes your personal information on the basis of legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances.

You can contact support@signalintel.tech to make an objection or other data protection request.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

14. Direct marketing and customer outreach

SignalIntel customers are responsible for ensuring that any marketing or outreach they conduct using information obtained through the service complies with applicable privacy, direct-marketing and electronic-communications laws.

Access to professional contact information through SignalIntel does not automatically mean that a customer has permission to send any particular marketing communication.

Where SignalIntel itself sends marketing communications, we will apply the legal requirements relevant to that communication and provide appropriate ways to object or unsubscribe where required.

15. Cookies

SignalIntel uses essential technologies required for functions such as authentication, account sessions and security.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or non-essential analytics cookies on the SignalIntel website.

Further information is available in our Cookie Policy.

16. Third-party websites and sources

SignalIntel may contain information derived from, or links to, third-party websites and public sources. Those third parties operate independently and have their own privacy practices.

SignalIntel is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites that customers choose to visit.

17. Children

SignalIntel is a business-to-business service and is not intended for children. We do not intentionally collect children's personal information for B2B opportunity generation.

18. Complaints

If you have a concern about how SignalIntel uses your personal information, please contact us first at support@signalintel.tech.

You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Information about making a complaint is available from the ICO at ico.org.uk.

The latest version will be published on this page and the "Last updated" date will be changed accordingly.
